The American Folklore Society Working Group on Folklore in Historic Preservation Policy announces the publication of a website that highlights activities completed under a policy initiative grant from the American Folklore Society (2011-2012). The website's URL is http://www.afsnet.org/default.asp?page=FHPPolicyPaper.

The working group's goal is to provide resources and suggest strategies that will better position folklorists and folklore methodologies as central forces in historic preservation. The policy paper—aimed primarily toward an audience of fellow folklorists—outlines key benchmarks in the history of folklore and historic preservation work in the United States, tactics for advocacy, lessons learned, and a blueprint for future action. The website also contains links to a webography, bibliography, and selected case studies that illustrate various intersections between folklore and historic preservation. For more information contact working group co-chairs  Laurie Sommers (folklaurie@gmail.com) or Michael Ann Williams (michael.williams@wku.edu).
