For more than four years AFS has supported consultancies for public folk arts organizations and agencies, and professional development opportunities for public folklorists. These activities create case studies of issues, challenges, organizations, or events in the folk and traditional arts field, or descriptions of best practices in some area of folk and traditional arts work, that AFS shares on its web site. 30 such case studies and best-practice reports are now available, along with program guidelines and application information, at www.afsnet.org/?page=ConsProfDev. More than a dozen new activities are now underway. This AFS project is made possible by funding from the Folk and Traditional Arts Program of the National Endowment for the Arts.
