University of Missouri Women’s and Gender Studies Department The Dorothy Haecker Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship
The
Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Missouri
seeks a scholar specializing in Women’s and Gender Studies or a closely
related discipline to apply for the Dorothy Haecker Postdoctoral
Teaching Fellowship. We are looking to a national pool to find
candidates with demonstrated research and teaching abilities in Women’s
and Gender Studies. We are particularly interested in scholars whose
research and teaching focuses on one or more of the following areas:
Youth Studies, Masculinity Studies, Native Studies, Asian Studies,
and/or Disability Studies.
This year-long post-doc fellowship
provides scholars at the beginning of their academic career a year in
which they can prepare their dissertation for publication, pursue
research projects, gain experience teaching advanced undergraduate
courses, and participate in the University of Missouri Women’s and
Gender Studies scholarly community. Fellows will have a 1/1 teaching
load with at least one course related to their research project.
This
appointment is for one year; we anticipate that it will be
non-renewable. Applicants must have their doctoral degree in hand no
later than the start date of the position (August, 2011) and no earlier
than August, 2006. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to be in residence
during the term of the post-doc. We offer a competitive salary of
$40,000 annually with full benefits.
The Women’s and Gender
Studies Department at MU is experiencing an exciting period of growth.
The department made three new hires in the past year and has existing
research strengths in areas of sexuality studies, health and health
disparities, global and transnational feminism, and U.S. race/ethnicity.
