The submission deadline for AFS proposals is coming up in 6 weeks. The AFS Archives and Libraries Section is happy to consider sponsorship of organized panels, media presentations, Diamond sessions, or forums that address topics relevant to folklore archives, museum collections, libraries, and other collected sources of lore. Ideas for possible themes could include (but are certainly not limited to):
  • Best practices in collections care and management
  • Issues in collections access, management, or preservation
  • Technology/media for folklore collections - or folklore applications for collections technology/media
  • Collaboration between archives and communities
  • Histories or case studies involving specific collections
  • Collections concerns relating to the 2012 conference theme ("The Continuity and Creativity of Culture")
If you have a panel you'd like to have considered for section sponsorship - or if you have a presentation in mind and you are looking for fellow panelists! - please feel free to contact Section Convener Terri Jordan on or off list.
