MLA Folklore and Literature Discussion Group organizing two panels

The Folklore and Literature Discussion Group of the Modern Languages Association has TWO calls for papers out this year. The sessions will take place at MLA 2013 in Boston, MA, from January 3-6. For more information on the conference, please visit http://www.mla.org/convention.

1) Title of session: Transnationalism and Folklore: Strangers, Acquaintances, or Much More?

Description: How does Folklore, as analyzed in literature, anticipate or coordinate with Transnationalism? How have Folklore, literature, and Transnationalism intersected?

Submission requirements: 500 word abstracts. Mention critical influences.

Deadline for submissions: 15 March 2012

2) Title of session: The Future of Things: Folklore and Literature through Material Culture

Description: Folklore works with Material Culture Studies (like Thing Theory), to reveal how authors project worlds/identities via objects.

Submission requirements: 500 word abstracts. Mention critical influences.
