The winners of the 2011 AFS and AFS Section prizes were announced at the
Annual Meeting in Bloomington, IN, October 12-15. The complete list of

announced: Matthew Hale's essay "Shaping Theory, Bending Method,
Tapping [New] Media: Ethnographic Craftsmanship and Responsive Design"
has won the 2011 Warren E. Roberts Prize for Best Student Paper in Folk
Art and Material Culture. Matthew is a first-year PhD student at Indiana
University, in Folklore and Ethnomusicology and received his Master's
from Western Kentucky University.
