The WIPO Secretariat is offering funding for two members from Indigenous Peoples, to participate in the 2018 WIPO-UNIGE Summer School on Intellectual Property that will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from June 25 to July 6, 2018. (More information on the Summer School below.)

Scholarship funding will cover economy class air travel to and from Geneva, a daily stipend for and medical insurance for the duration of the summer course, as well as a waiver of course fees.

The deadline to apply for the scholarships is March 12, 2018. For more information and to apply, visit:

The 2018 Summer School on Intellectual Property, offered jointly by the WIPO Academy and the University of Geneva (UNIGE), will provide an opportunity to senior students and young professionals to acquire deeper knowledge of each domain of intellectual property (IP), to gain an appreciation of IP as a tool for economic, social, cultural and technological development and to understand the role WIPO plays in the global administration of IP.

The two-week-long program consists of lectures, case studies, simulation exercises, and group discussions on selected IP topics, with an orientation towards the interface between IP and other disciplines. A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements.

The Summer School is open to 50 senior students (graduate and postgraduate students) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. All applicants are required to have successfully completed the WIPO distance learning General Course on Intellectual Property before the registration deadline. Please note that priority will be given to those who have completed the said course in the selection of participants.

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Geneva, accommodation and living expenses during their participation of the program.

Applications must be submitted online with résumés, letters of motivation, and copies of passports (or identity cards). Selected applicants will be notified two weeks after registration deadline.
