The Department of English at George Mason University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Folklore and Public Humanities. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason’s academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Candidates will teach in the Folklore Studies Program undergraduate and graduate programs beginning Fall 2018, teaching a 2:2 load. Candidates should be prepared to teach folklore graduate courses, including “Humanities in the Public Sphere” or “Topics in Public Humanities;” and departmental undergraduate courses in folklore, including the field school for cultural documentation and the introduction to folklore studies.
