“Folklorist, author and scholar William R. "Bill" Ferris will be honored with Mississippi’s top arts honor, for lifetime achievement, when the Governor’s Arts Awards ceremony returns to the Old Capitol in February. That recognition leads the 2017 roster of outstanding talents and supporters contributing to the state’s creative profile.

The Governor’s Arts Awards public ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 in the Old Capitol’s House of Representatives Chamber. It’ll be broadcast live on the radio, with a half-hour special aired the following week by Mississippi Public Broadcasting.”
