In August, the AFS Nominating Committee (Selina Morales, chair, Joseph Sciorra, Diane Tye, and Steve Zeitlin) announced its slate of two candidates for each available office in the AFS 2016 election. No candidates were nominated by petition by the September 10 deadline. Therefore, the candidates for office this year are:

Dorothy Noyes, The Ohio State University

Solimar Otero, Louisiana State University

Executive Board (elect three candidates for 2017–19 terms):

Wanda Addison, National University

Olivia Cadaval, Smithsonian Institution

Phyllis May-Machunda, Minnesota State University Moorhead

Christopher Mulé, Brooklyn Arts Council

Anand Prahlad, University of Missouri

Suzanne Seriff, Museum of International Folk Art

Nominating Committee (elect one candidate for a 2017-2019 term):

Diane Goldstein, Indiana University

Marjorie Hunt, Smithsonian Institution

All candidates have provided biographical summaries and platform statements, which you can read by clicking on the candidates' names above. We have invited all candidates to take part in the Candidates' Forum on Thursday afternoon, October 20, at the Miami annual meeting. Secure online voting will begin on November 1 and will continue through December 31. Those elected will take office in January 2017.
