The North Carolina Folklife Institute is looking for submissions to their food blog, NC Food. Pieces are generally somewhere between 500-750 words, feature at least two or three pictures, and focus on some aspect of North Carolina's foodways. It can be about a restaurant, food festival, personal experience, or a particular tradition. You do not have to be based in North Carolina, but the piece does need to be about NC. They pay $25 per published piece.

They strongly encourage women, people of color, poor/working class people, LGBTQ folks, and people with disabilities to submit their work. They want this blog to be more reflective of a wide variety of people and their experiences with food. You don't have to be a "professional" or published writer. If you have questions as to whether your material will fit their blog, please email Solomon Weiner at: solomonc@live.unc.edu.
