Paulina Guerrero will be leaving the AFS Membership Director position on August 16 to devote full-time attention to her dissertation and freelance writing. In announcing her departure, she said, "I have been offered several professional opportunities in Bloomington that will allow me to focus more of my energy in these areas, which are among my true passions. I have been honored to be able to work for Tim and Lorraine, and will remain inspired by their compassion, leadership, and work ethic. I hope to continue to help the folklore discipline thrive." All of us on the Executive Board and staff thank Paulina for her contributions to AFS, and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
Our staff is working with the Indiana University human resources office to post the Membership Director position as soon as possible.
And in related news, the one-year term of AFS 2015-2016 graduate assistant Shannon Larson concluded at the end of July. Shannon has received an Indiana University fellowship to complete her dissertation in the coming year. Our thanks and best wishes go to her, too: her work has helped us define the scope and responsibilities of this new AFS position. Indiana University folklore PhD student Jesse Fivecoate began work as our 2016-2017 graduate assistant this past Monday, August 1. You will meet him at the annual meeting this October in Miami.
