AFS President Kay Turner sent the following message to members on June 15, 2016:
In February 2016, the American Folklore Society carried out its fourth membership survey (following upon previous surveys in 2002, 2006, and 2011). 526 members responded to this year's survey, continuing the pattern of increased participation in each successive AFS member survey (2002: 257 responses; 2006: 315; 2011: 410).
A brief report summarizing the patterns of members’ responses to most 2016 survey questions, and a more comprehensive document containing more detailed 2016 survey data, are both available on the AFS web site via links from http://www.afsnet.org/?page=MemberSurveyReports. This page also contains links to reports from our three previous member surveys.
My thanks go to all members who responded for sharing their information, experiences, and opinions. Your responses are extremely helpful to the Executive Board as we review current Society work and consider future priorities.
