The Louisiana State Museum Seeks Music Curator

The Louisiana State Museum is now hiring for the position of music curator.

Duties: Catalogue Music Collection, plan and maintain care and conservation of the collection, contribute to exhibition planning and development, planning for the New Orleans Jazz museum, provide well written information on objects for exhibit development, research objects within the collection and write publishable articles for scholarly journals, answer inquiries, make presentations, supervision of staff.

Desired Requirements: Master’s Degree, Detailed knowledge of music, musicology, music education, and musical instruments. Thorough familiarity with jazz and Louisiana music, in general. Experience developing exhibitions and developing publications concerning music-related themes. Knowledge of The Gallery System museum collection management database. Experience with conservation practices and procedures. Experience interacting with donors.
