Prompted by recommendations from the AFS media and public relations committee and member comments, two years ago AFS created an informational piece about the field of folklore studies, the AFS, and the opportunities AFS provides to students. It is available for you to download in PDF format here.

Faculty, please consider sharing it with your students through listservs or through your course management system. Those of you who work outside the academy can just as easily distribute it to promising interns, younger staff at your public-sector program or organization, community scholars, or anyone else who exhibits an interest.

Please share this PDF with your students and colleagues. They need to know that there is a field of folklore studies that could be a professional home for them as it is for you. We are depending on you to help us get the word out.
