A joint conference of the Missouri Association for Museums and Archives and the Missouri Humanities Council will be held October 23-24 in Columbia, Missouri.
Session proposals may be submitted through June 24, 2015.
This year, the theme of the annual conference will be "Cultural Recovery: Roles of Museums and Archives." We recover history all the time, be it by recording oral histories, saving documents and photos, or preserving objects from a disaster. We care for them and make them accessible to the public.
Individuals from the museum/archives and related supporting communities who would like to present at this dynamic and friendly conference are invited to submit proposals. Each session proposal should in some way touch on the topic of cultural recovery. We encourage you to seek out people from other institutions to collaborate on a panel.
Possible session topics include, but not limited to:
- Genealogy Grant writing
- Site/exhibit evaluations
- Hands–on presentations
- Oral history
There will be sessions on Friday and Saturday, October 23rd and 24th. Sessions may vary from 30 to 60 minutes for an individual, or up to 90 minutes for a panel.
The deadline for submission is Wednesday, June 24th, 2015.
We invite individuals to submit proposals electronically to Toni Messina at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
(Proposals may also be sent by mail to: MAMA, P.O. Box 533, Jefferson City, MO 65102.)
