Anthropology Journal Seeks Submissions for Special Issue on Anthropology and Literature

The Anthropological Journal of European Cultures invites submissions for an upcoming special issue on anthropology and literature to be edited by Laurent Sebastien Fournier (Université de Nantes) and Máiréad Nic Craith (Heriot Watt University). The editors invite proposals on the following topics in the context of European society:

  • The role of literature in anthropology
  • Literature as ethnography
  • Relationships between anthropology and literature, past and present
  • The use of anthropology and anthropological motives in literature
  • Famous writers as anthropologists/ethnographers
  • Famous ethnographers as authors
  • The influence of literature on the invention of traditions, rituals, and cultural performances
  • Literacy, illiteracy and popular culture
  • Textual strategies for ethnographer

Proposals of 300–500 words should be sent to and are due by March 15, 2015.
