Isabel Gonzales, an embroiderer from Jemez Pueblo, has now been confirmed as one of the presenting artists in the Fiber Arts tour at the 2014 Annual Meeting. Gonzales is one of a small number of artists who are perpetuating the traditions that go into making ceremonial textiles like mantas (shawls), dance kilts and sashes, as well as contemporary items (http://sarweb.org/embroidery/artists/gonzales/gonzales.htm)

Traditional Pueblo manta (shawl) embroidered by Isabel Gonzales. The butterfly, like all of the traditional designs she uses, has personal and cultural meaning.
