The Society for Ethnomusicology encourages applications for its expanded Diversity Action Programs for 2014. Programs include the following:

Annual Meeting Subvention Program: This program provides support to undergraduates and graduate students from groups that have historically experienced discrimination to attend and present at the SEM Annual Meeting. The bulk of the subventions will go to graduate students, with a smaller percentage for undergraduates. The award will support conference registration and up to $800 for food, lodging, and travel. Three or four grants will be awarded.
Application deadline: August 15, 2014.

Mentoring Program: The goal of this program is to provide mentoring support to ethnomusicologists from groups who have historically experienced discrimination and who recently received a terminal degree. Mentees in the program will be paired with senior ethnomusicologists, who would consult with them regularly to provide career advice. Awards will be made to four mentees, with travel subsidies of up to $400/each.
Application deadline: August 15, 2014.

Book Subvention Program: This program will provide funds for a faculty member from a group that has historically experienced discrimination to publish his/her first book. The program award will provide funds of up to $2,000 for a subvention.
Application deadline: October 1, 2014.
