AFS Review: Did You Know...?

You Can Help AFS (and Yourself) by Updating Your Online Member Profile

Friday, February 21, 2014   (0 Comments)

Keeping up-to-date contact information in your member profile is one of the easiest ways you can help to stretch your membership dues and contributions as far as possible—and to ensure that you get your quarterly copy of JAF and other AFS communications as quickly as possible. We use the information in your member profile to generate the JAF mailing list, so if the mailing address there is incomplete or contains errors, your JAF will go astray. If your address is out of date, AFS pays extra for the postage required to forward your journal or to have it returned to our office (sometimes, postage will be paid as many as three times before a member receives their JAF) and a staff member invests time in research and data entry to update your contact information. If your email address is out of date, you won’t receive AFS communications in a timely manner, and you may experience unnecessary trouble when trying to sign in to the AFS website or when renewing your membership.

Updating your profile is easy to do and goes a long way in helping to make the most out of the resources we have. Doing so also ensures that other members have the best possible chance of contacting you in order to exchange ideas, collaborate, or just get in touch. To update your member profile, sign in to the AFS website and click on "Manage Profile” in the "My Profile” menu on the right side of the screen. Next, click on "Edit Bio,” update your contact information, and when you’re done, just click "Save Changes.”
