UNC Chapel Hill Seeks Scholars of the American South as John Shelton Reed Distinguished Professor

The Department of American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications from senior scholars of the American South for the John Shelton Reed Distinguished Professorship. Building on Carolina’s excellence in all facets of the study of the American South, the university seeks a distinguished scholar and teacher whose work focuses on this region, broadly imagined. Embracing an expansive definition of scholarship, applicants are welcome whose demonstrated record of accomplishment integrates the academy and the public sphere. The university seeks applicants with a vision for the future of Southern Studies; their emphasis may range across an intellectual landscape that extends from established historical disciplines to emerging fields.
