IMT Institute for Advanced Study in Lucca, Italy, Seeking Professor of Cultural Heritage

Lucca, Italy—IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca (www.imtlucca.it) is currently accepting expressions of interest for tenured faculty positions. The Institute is actively seeking candidates with one of the following backgrounds: (i) classics and archaeology, with particular emphasis on the interdisciplinary approach to visual phenomena in the ancient world, on the interactions between the social, cultural and religious contexts and the visual phenomena, and on the history of classical tradition in the western culture; (ii) art history and related fields, with particular emphasis on the history of the reception of images, the interdisciplinary approach to the visual phenomena, history of art criticism and aesthetics, cultural heritage protection and organization seen from a historical perspective, history of collecting, contemporary debates about the protection, management and valorization of cultural heritage, current practices in museology; (iii) law, with particular emphasis on the juridical status of cultural heritage in a comparative perspective.

Expressions of interest from exceptional candidates of all ranks in areas beyond those listed above, yet still aligned with the mission of IMT, are also welcome.

Candidates must have an excellent record of high-impact international publications, a remarkable ability in leading research groups, and demonstrated experience in conducting/coordinating research projects. While the ability to teach PhD courses in English is mandatory, knowledge of Italian is not required.
