Beginning with the upcoming regional meeting (Feb. 14-15, 2014), the American Conference for Irish Studies (ACIS) South will award a "Best Debut Paper Award" at its annual conference. Paper proposals need to be submitted to the conference organizers by Sept. 5, 2013. Guidelines for papers may be found at <>

Applicants should be limited to early career scholars, graduate students, or individuals presenting a paper at an Irish Studies conference for the first time. Submissions are to be received by the ACIS South Secretary no later than 10 days prior to the first date of the conference. Submissions should be made by email in Word format. Submissions will be judged by the organization officers and/or selected readers from the pool of senior scholars in the membership. A minimum of three readers will read each submission and rank the papers. In the event of a tie, the Secretary will determine the winner. The award will be announced at the final banquet at the respective conference. The amount of the award will be identical the cost of the conference registration.

Submit final papers to: John Countryman (Berry College, GA). Secretary, ACIS South <>
