The American Council of Learned Societies’ Conference of
Administrative Officers (CAO, the body representing the directors of ACLS’s 71
member societies in the humanities and social sciences) has elected AFS
Executive Director Tim Lloyd to serve on its Executive Committee for a
2013-2016 term. This committee sets the agenda for the CAO’s twice-yearly meetings and
other year-round activities, and engages in discussion of learned-society matters with the Board of Directors of ACLS. The other members of this committee are the executive
directors of the American Academy of Religion, the College Forum of the
National Council of Teachers of English, the Latin American Studies Association,
the National Communication Association, the Society for Ethnomusicology, and the
Society for Music Theory.
Way to go, Tim! I recall being on that committee while I was Secretary of SEM. I got to introduce archiving of society "records" into the mix. I trust that his topic is still discussed. Thanks for all your exceptional efforts on behalf of AFS, ACLS, and beyond!
