The Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure of the American Association of University Professors has just prepared Regulation of Research on Human Subjects: Academic Freedom and the Institutional Review Board. The report, along with the accompanying press release, is available at http://www.aaup.org/AAUP/newsroom/2012PRs/irb.htm.

AFS is one of the more than 200 endorsers of the joint 1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure, and AAUP expects that AFS members will be interested in this new report’s contents. As the headnote to the report indicates, "The Committee welcomes comments on the report from Association members and other interested parties. They should be addressed to B. Robert Kreiser (bkreiser@aaup.org) at the AAUP’s Washington office by September 28, 2012.”
