The website of the American Folklore Society provides private webspace for online groups.
Sections are special-interest groups that have been recognized by the AFS Executive Board according to Article X of the AFS Bylaws. Many sections support their activities with the collection of annual dues, but some sections do not.
Some sections serve primarily as conversation groups, and simply hold gatherings at the Society’s annual meeting where section members can share news about work in their areas of interest. Other sections are more active; many use their webpages here, and most sections organize annual meeting paper sessions or produce their own publications, or both. A few sections give prizes to recognize and encourage good work in their area(s) of interest.
Online groups to discuss common interests.
Groups formed by AFS to work on specific projects; members are by invitation.
