City Lore and Bowery Arts + Science welcome you to a night of poetry in Yiddish and English, recited and projected onto the beautiful facade of the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue on the Lower East Side. Among the Yiddish poets participating are NEA National Heritage Fellowship winner – Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman; columnist at the Yiddish Forward newspaper – Yoel Matveyeev; writer, translator Mindl Rinkewich; and Gitl Schachter-Viswanath, poet and editor of the English-Yiddish dictionary. The event will open with Yiddish music performed by Lisa Mayer and Sruli Dresdner. The POEMobile will project poems in both Yiddish and English simultaneously.
