The Society for Ethnomusicology will hold its 61th Annual Meeting on November 10-13, 2016, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., co-hosted by Smithsonian Folkways Recordings and The George Washington University.

In conjunction with the SEM Annual Meeting, the American Folklife Center will present a pre-conference symposium, “Soundings: Public Sector Ethnomusicology in the 21st Century,” on November 9 at the Library of Congress. In addition, SEM is partnering with the Music and Sound Interest Group of the American Anthropological Association to present a special forum, “The Anthropology of Sound,” on November 11 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
