Folklore/indigenous knowledge capture a vast domain of aesthetic and consciousness experiences of ritual performances, oral poetry, crafts and wisdom. It represents the quintessential eco-culture based on the tangible and intangible living heritage of common man. The natives living in tune with nature have very strong oral traditions, art history, indigenous knowledge and performances encoded with a number of concepts for the conservation and enrichment of the biodiversity. Their knowledge systems – which is part of the Sui generis- about environment impart a lot of registries about their contributions to the ethno sciences; and these ethnic worldviews have been handed over from generation to generation. The local myths, ethno music and shaman trance performances are indicators of their intuitive knowledge about nature. The indigenous knowledge of the first peoples and farmers , they are the custodian of genetic resources, can be used to address and find solutions to the current polycrises like Global warming, food insecurity, climatic changes, eco-system exploitation etc. Traditional ritual performances are greatly related to fertility ecology while cultural symbology and visual anthropology are connected with the primitive agricultural landscape. Indigenous aesthetics is the sum of all the cultural expressions traditionally attained in every field of art by the indigenous people of each place.
