preliminary procedures and agenda for participation. A final agenda will
be available 24 hours prior to the conference/meeting as a link on the AFS Independent
Folklorists’ Section members’ page.

the phone number (mobile or land-line) you wish to be called at, in order to
enter the Skype phone (not video) conference at approximately 10 AM PDT.
details of any additional new business you wish added to the final agenda,
which will be available (see above link) on the AFS website 24 hours in
copy of any written report to be discussed during meeting.
if you are interested in becoming Junior Convener for 2012. (If selected you
will be responsible for taking minutes during the conference call/ meeting, and
will become Sr. Convener at the following year, 2013 Conference)
CALL/BUSINESS MEETING AGENDA 10/20/11
10:00 AM: Dyann Arthur, Senior Convener, hosting the
conference call/meeting telephones confirmed participants at phone number
provided and welcomes all.
10:05: Dyann asks
for volunteer to serve as Junior Convener for next year. After that person is
selected, she/he takes notes on
meeting and prepares minutes as first responsibility. (Minutes will be emailed
for final approval to Dyann, also Amber Ridington, the current Junior Convener
who will chair the 2012 Section Business Meeting.)
10:10: Dyann reports attendance and calls for introductions
of participants; asking people to
introduce themselves and briefly and tell what they’d like to gain from
membership in Independent Section.
10:15: Dyann proceeds
with business part of meeting. She asks for someone to move to accept the
minutes and for someone else to second approval.
10:20: Dyann explains Public Program Section’s Independent Folklorist’s
Travel Stipend Award, announces the Award Stipend Committee for the coming
year, and congratulates the winner for this year: Laura Marcus-Green. She asks
Laura to say a few words about the value of the experience and report on her
attendance at the Public Programs Section Business Meeting.
10:35: Dyann presents financial information provided by Tim Lloyd. She tells about
anything of interest that came up during Friday’s breakfast meeting with
10:45: Dyann thanks and introduces Jan Rosenberg who gives
report on contributions Indies made before and during the AFS 2011.
10:55: Amber Ridington
leads discussion on the success of Section sponsored Professional Development Workshop: Dialogue: Learning
through Meaningful Engagement and the Grant Writing Roundtable.
11:10: Dyann calls for discussion/review of AFS 2011
