The International Summer School for Humour and Laughter will take place in Tartu, Estonia in August 15 - 20, 2011.
Humour research is a highly interdisciplinary field. The 11th International Summer School and Symposium on Humour and Laughter (ISS 2011) will focus above all on the approaches provided by cultural studies, folkloristics, religious studies, arts etc. Students interested in humour theory (psychological, social and cultural dimensions humour, irony, wit, or satire) as well as its applications (humour therapy, positive psychology) will all find something useful for their work in this year's lectures.
The ISS11 lecturers include some of the most prominent researchers in their speciality: sociology (professor Christie Davies, Dr. Sharon Lockyer), folkloristics (professor Arvo Krikmann, professor Alexander Kozintsev, professor Seppo Knuuttila), positive psychology (professor Willibald Ruch, professor Sven Svebak), and many others.
The one-week intensive course consists of talks, workshops, and meet-the-lecturer sessions, as well as a half-day symposium where everyone is encouraged to give an overview of his/her current or intended research.
