|Chicano and Chicana Folklore Section|
At the 1998 AFS annual meeting in Portland, a group of folklorists
headed by Maria Herrera-Sobek and Norma E. Cantú initiated
this section, devoted to the study of Chicano and Chicana
folklore. Each year our members meet at the AFS annual meeting. In
members also convene at the meetings of the Latin American
Studies Association and the National Chicano and Chicana Studies
meetings. The section maintains a listserv for its members
and for the members of the AFS Folklore Latino, Latinoamericano y
Section. If you would like to be added to this list, please
send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org
Our plans for the future include publications and actively working with the Minority Task force to increase Chicano and Chicana membership in AFS. We welcome anyone interested in any and all aspects of Chicano and Chicana traditional cultural expression.
