|African Studies Section|
The African Studies Section of the American Folklore Society exists as an interest group to bring together folklorists who attend AFS annual meetings and are interested in Africa. Usually eight to fourteen persons gather briefly to exchange news and information about their research and that of others, and to tell stories about their travels. We collect no dues and issue no publications or prizes. In the past, we've found it useful to exchange information on where and how Americans and others can find places to do research in Africa today. Such information is also available through the Archives-Libraries Committee of the African Studies Association, and sometimes through the African Literature Association. Currently, there is no convener of this section.
