have direct control of your AFS online group membership: sign up to follow any
AFS section, interact online with other members, and receive AFS section
- Go to the list of all section
group home pages.
- Click on the section of interest; if
you are not already a member of the group, you will see a "Join
Group" button in the upper left corner of the group's page. Click on
"Join Group" to go immediately to the group's home page. (If you are
already a member, you will go directly to the group home page.)
- Even if the section is not yet
actively using the online group space, you will now be included in the group's
member list, which section conveners will use when they email about section
- Be sure to visit the section's public page for
information about current conveners and other communication tools that the section
may be using.
- Support the section's activities by
paying your annual section dues with your AFS membership renewal, or by
submitting section dues at any time in the online store.
your group membership:
- View your section memberships by
signing in, then clicking on Groups in the
Profile Menu. Clicking on any group on your Groups page will take you to that section's
group home page.
- To receive notices of group forum
activity, choose Forums in the group menu, then "Subscribe to Instant
Updates" for an email alert for each posting, or "Subscribe to
Digest" for an email of all section Forum postings on any given day. (See FAQ, especially on Forums,
for more information.)
- Use the "Directory and
Features" button on the group home page to view a list of the group's
members; click on an individual to view his or her profile. Most individual
profiles include a link for direct email.
- To email the entire group, find the "Options"
button in the upper right of the group home page, then click on "Email All
To leave a group, find the "Options"
button, then click on "Leave This Group."
